Position Description: Do you enjoy writing and journalism? The women and children at Safe Haven Shelter have an important story to share. Help us record their experiences as a way to bring healing to victims and awareness to othes.
Responsibilities: Interviewing and recording the stories of women and children who have indicated a desire to share a part of their story.
Qualifications: Compassionate and patient. Excellent written and oral communication skills desired. Basic interviewing skills helpful.
Training and Preparation: Initial and on-going training on volunteer policy and procedure as well as domestic violence issues is provided on a regular basis.
Benefits: Volunteers at Safe Haven Shelter have the opportunity to learn about domestic violence, help women and children in domestic violence situations, develop valuable work and life skills and feel good about giving of their time and talents to help others. This position gives you the opportunity to interact with battered women and children as a part of their healing process and the ability share their stories in a meaningful manner.
Evaluation: Volunteer Coordinators will work closely with you to answer questions, direct the work and provide feedback as necessary. |
